What is the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival?

The first FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival for boys is scheduled for 24–30 October 2026 in Baku, according to FIFA's German-language explanation dated 1 October. It is designed to give young footballers from across the world more international experience. Unlike a traditional senior World Cup, this is a development-focused festival with short matches and several competitive levels.

Why are 189, 190 and 191 teams all being reported?

The German newspaper MOPO and Germany's Sportschau referred to 189 participating associations. FIFA's own communications have not always used the same figure: one official explanation referred to 190 associations, while an earlier overview cited 191. These figures describe different publication snapshots. Without a final verified entry list, the responsible wording is roughly 190 participating associations, not a definitive count.

Why is Germany missing?

The German Football Association (DFB) is not sending a squad. Sportschau reported the DFB's explanation that its youth-development philosophy seeks to shield players of this age from the pressure of major public tournaments and premature evaluation. The presence of Russia's youth team has also attracted attention, but that should not be presented as the stated DFB reason for abstaining.

How will the matches work?

FIFA outlined an eight-a-side format on pitches measuring 68 by 47 metres. Matches last two 20-minute halves. After group play, the teams are divided into six performance tiers, each with a winner. Around 950 matches were anticipated in the official briefing. The idea is participation and development rather than eliminating most teams after only a few games.

The connection with BetInsight TIME CLASH

There is a fascinating parallel in the ambition to bring different football cultures together. FIFA's event is real football played by young athletes; BetInsight TIME CLASH is an entirely fictional historical football simulation. TIME CLASH currently has 49 selectable national-team versions from 23 present-day or historical selections, including several editions of Germany and Brazil. The Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia are historical selections, not current countries. None of these 49 entries should be confused with FIFA participants.

Could Germany 2014 play Brazil 1970?

Not at the U-15 tournament. But that is the type of impossible encounter explored by TIME CLASH. You select teams from different eras and play out a fictional five-match series. The simulation is entertainment, not an official FIFA competition, a prediction, or a betting recommendation.
